When I was reading the first lesson of your unit plan I noticed that you use a lot of imagery. For instance you provided a map where students could draw, highlight, and label the states that make up the southeast region of the United States. You also provided a word map where students could use a graphic organizer to learn vocabulary. Both of these methods are important because geography can be a very abstract topic to present to students. The map would help students to relate abstract information to a visual concept. The word map provides a way for students to learn vocabulary other than simply memorizing definitions.
